COLLIDED WITH A STOPPED 18 WHEELER IN THE 1600 BLOCK

OF SOUTH MAIN IN TAYLOR WEDNESDAY

AFTERNOON. 71 YEAR OLD JAMES RUSSELL GRENWELGE

WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. POLICE RESPONDED

TO A REPORT OF A RECKLESS DRIVER IN THE 3900 BLOCK

OF SOUTH MAIN AROUND 2:30 WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

WHEN POLICE ARRIVED, THE MAN FLED IN A WHITE 2016

CHEVROLET MALIBU. HE PASSED A POLICE VEHICLE AND

RAN HEAD-ON INTO THE STOPPED 18 WHEELER. THE

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY HAS ASSISTED WITH

THE INVESTIGATION. THE ROADWAY WAS CLOSED FOR

ABOUT 3 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES AFTER THE CRASH.

JOHNSON WERE CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER FOR

IN COURT WEDNESDAY, TRAVIS COUNTY DISTRICT JUDGE

KAREN SAGE SAID THAT THE ABSENCE OF ANY BLACK

JURORS WAS NOT A DIRECT REFLECTION OF ANY

DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES BUT HAD MORE TO DO WITH
