(BUCKHOLTS)–BUCKHOLTS I-S-D HELD A BOND
INFORMATION NIGHT ON THURSDAY AFTER THE DISTRICT’S
BOARD OF TRUSTEES HAS CALLED FOR A BOND ELECTION
FOR OVER 11 MILLION DOLLARS IN MAY. THE DISTRICT
SAID THE BOND PROPOSAL IS EXPECTED TO ADD A NEW
MIDDLE SCHOOL TO THE HIGH SCHOOL, CONVERT THE
CURRENT MIDDLE SCHOOL INTO AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL,
AND HELP WITH SIGNIFICANT RENOVATIONS TO ALL
CAMPUSES. THE MEETING THURSDAY NIGHT WAS HELD
TO EXPLAIN THE BOND AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR
TAXPAYERS.

NEW SUBDIVISION IS GOING UP HERE IN ROCKDALE WITH
NEW HOMES AS GROWTH FROM SAMSUNG AS WELL AS
THE SANDOW LAKES PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT CONTINUE
TO IMPACT THE CITY. ROCKDALE CITY MANAGER BARBARA
HOLLY SAID PROGRESS IS CONTINUING AT THE CORNERSTONE
SUBDIVISION, WITH 13 APPROVED PERMITS, WITH SOME
UNDERGOING PARTICULAR INSPECTIONS, AND THE MODEL
HOME IS ALMOST READY TO BE OPENED FOR BUSINESS.
(BRENHAM)–THE MAN ACCUSED OF DRIVING THE
STOLEN 18 WHEELER INTO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING IN BRENHAM IS FACING
ADDITIONAL CHARGES IN THE CASE. 42 YEAR OLD
CLENARD PARKER IS NOW CHARGED WITH FELONY
MURDER, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY
WEAPON ON A PUBLIC SERVANT, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
WITH A DEADLY WEAPON AND CRIMINAL MISCHIEF. PARKER
WAS ORIGINALLY CHARGED WITH 3 COUNTS OF
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON A PUBLIC SERVANT WITH
A DEADLY CAUSING SERIOUSLY BODILY INJURY, ONE
COUNT OF EVADING ARREST OR DETENTION CAUSING
SERIOUS BODILY INJURY, AND ONE COUNT OF
UNAUTHORZED USE OF A MOTOR VEHICLE. A TOTAL OF
14 PEOPLE WERE IN THE D-P-S BUILDING WHEN THE
18 WHEELER CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING,
AND EVERYONE WAS HURT. 78 YEAR OLD BOBBY HUFF
DIED FROM HIS INJURIES AT THE HOSPITAL.

ORGANIZATION IS CONDUCTING THE ANNUAL DAY OF
SERVICE TODAY, FRIDAY APRIL 19TH. VOLUNTEERS
WILL BE WORKING ON HIGHLIGHTED PROJECTS
INCLUDING THE ROCKDALE I-S-D ADMINISTRATION
BUILDING CLEAN-UP AND LANDSCAPING, THE OLD
CITY CEMETERY RESTORATOIN, TREE TRENCHING AND
MULCHING AT THE KAY THEATER AND ONE STOP
CENTER, FLOWER GARD EXPANSION AT THE SENIOR
CENTER ON GREEN STREET, AND TREE TRENCHING AND
MULCHING IN THE 600 BLOCK OF WEST BELL. 30
NEW BARREL TRASH CANS WILL BE ROLLED OUT,
PRIMARILY IN DOWNTOWN ROCKDALE.
