COVID IN MILAM COUNTY, WITH NO NEW DEATHS.

BY APPROVING THE FINAL PROJECT AND FINANCING

PLAN FOR THE TAX INCREMENT REINVESTMENT ZONE

BUILT UP HIS BUSINESS IN MILAM COUNTY AFTER PLAYING

A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN A PRO BASEBALL FRANCHISE.

BOB MCCLAREN RETURNED TO HIS ROOTS IN CATTLE

RANCHING AFTER A STINT IN THE FRONT OFFICE OF THE

HOUSTON ASTROS. MCCLAREN OWNS 44 FARMS, THE LARGEST

REGISTERED ANGUS HERD IN TEXAS AND THE FOURTH LARGEST

IN THE UNITED STATES. HE’S A FOURTH GENERATION

RANCHER AND SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON HIS GRANDPARENTS’

RANCH NEAR CAMERON. HIS UNCLE, DRAYTON MCCLANE,

DREW HIM INTO PRO BASEBALL BY ASKING HIM TO TAKE ON

THE POSITION OF PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS FOR

THE HOUSTON ASTROS ORGANIZATION. HE KEPT THINKING

ABOUT THE ANGUS CATTLE BUSINESS WHILE WORKING FOR

THE ASTROS AND EVENTUALLY WENT INTO BUSINESS THERE,

DEVELOPING THE ANGUS CATTLE BUSINESS AT 44 FARMS INTO

WHAT IT IS TODAY.

(ROCKDALE)–ROCKDALE FIREMEN RESPONDED TO

TWO OIL TANKS ON FIRE AT 3485 SOUTH F-M 908 AROUND

12:25 THURSDAY MORNING. THE FIRES WERE CAUSED BY

LIGHTNING. FIREMEN HAD THE FIRE OUT AND WERE ON THE

SCENE FOR ABOUT 2 AND A HALF HOURS, BUT WERE CALLED

BACK LATER THAT MORNING WITH OIL ON THE GROUND

AND FIRE THREATENING THE WELLS THERE. FIREMEN GOT

THE SITUATION UNDER CONTROL.

(CAMERON)–CAMERON FIREMEN RESPONDED WHEN

AN 18 WHEELER CAUGHT FIRE AND PULLED INTO THE

HILLTOP TRUCK STOP IN CAMERON AROUND 9:45 THURSDAY

NIGHT. 2 FIRE UNITS RESPONDED TO THE SCENE. FIREMEN

HAD THE FIRE OUT QUICKLY.

(ROCKDALE)–THE ROCKDALE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

AND VISITOR’S CENTER HAS RECEIVED A RECORDED TEXAS

HISTORIC LANDMARK DESIGNATION FROM THE TEXAS

HISTORICAL COMMISSION FOR THEIR OFFICE AT THE HISTORIC

COFFIELD HOUSE AT 1203 WEST CAMERON IN ROCKDALE.

THE BUILDING WAS BUILT IN THE EARLY 1930’S BY ROCKDALE

BUSINESSMAN H-H COFFIELD WITH UNIQUE PETRIFIED

STONE.

(ROCKDALE)–THE ROCKDALE FAIR CONTINUES THIS

WEEKEND IN THE FINAL WEEKEND OF THE FAIR. THE FAIR

RODEO CONTINUES TONIGHT, ALONG WITH THE RIDES AND

THE MIDWAY. TONIGHT JEFFERY CARSON TAKES THE

STAGE AT 8:30 PM FOLLOWED BY HEADLINER MIKE

RYAN AT 10:30 PM. ON SATURDAY, GIOVANNI AND THE

HIRED GUNS START AT 9 PM, AND HEADLINER KOLBY

COOPER TAKES THE STAGE AT 11 PM.

(ROCKDALE)–THE ROCKDALE TIGER FOOTBALL TEAM

HAS THEIR BYE IN THE SCHEDULE TONIGHT. KRXT WILL HAVE

LIVE FOOTBALL ACTION TONIGHT. THE TAYLOR DUCKS HOST

CANYON LAKE TONIGHT. KRXT WILL HAVE ALL THE ACTION
