(CALDWELL)–A WOMAN WAS KILLED IN A CRASH IN

CALDWELL WEDNESDAY EVENING. THE ACCIDENT WAS

REPORTED ON HIGHWAY 36 AT COUNTY ROAD 107.

CALDWELL POLICE SAID CHRISTI LEIGH DEROUEN OF

NEW ULM, TEXAS, DIED IN THE ACCIDENT. INVESTIGATORS

SAY A 2004 FREIGHTLINER HAULING 3 LARGE SPOOLS

HEADING SOUTH STRUCK THE RAILROAD UNDERPASS

NEAR COUNTY ROAD 107. THE IMPACT BROKE THE STRAPS

HOLDING THE SPOOLS, AND ONE OF THOSE SPOOLS

ROLLED OFF THE TRAILER AND STRUCK A NORTHBOUND

2014 DODGE 3500 PICKUP DRIVEN BY DEROUEN. SHE

WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.

(FRANKLIN)–A CAPITAL MURDER SUSPECT FROM

ARKANSAS WHO LED FRANKLIN POLICE ON A HIGH SPEED

CHAE IS DEAD FROM A SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND

TO THE HEAD. POLICE SAY 18 YEAR OLD DEMARCUS KING

HAD BEEN IN CRITICAL CONDITION SINCE WEDNESDAY

BEFORE HE DIED. KING FLED FROM POLICE WEDNESDAY

MORNING AFTER AN OFFICER TRIED TO PULL HIM OVER FOR

GOING 80 MPH IN A 60 MPH ZONE. HIS VEHICLE HIT AN

EMBANKMENT. HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SHOT HIMSELF.

HE WAS FLOWN TO ST. JOSEPH HOSPITAL IN BRYAN AND

WAS LISTED IN CRITICAL CONDITION BEFORE HE DIED.

(TAYLOR)–THE TAYLOR CITY COUNCIL AGREED TO

MOVE FORWARD ON A SUBDIVISION DURING THE COUNCIL

MEETING THURSDAY. HOME BUILDING CAN SOON BEGIN

AT THE NEW CASTLEWOOD SUBDIVISION PHASE 1 AS THE

COUNCIL ACCEPTED THE INFRASTRUCTURE PLANS.

(ROCKDALE)–A LOCAL ORGANIZATION CONTINUES

TO WORK TO HELP A SPECIAL GROUP OF PEOPLE IN

THE COUNTY. THE MILAM ADULT RESOURCE CENTER WAS

ORIGINALLY FOUNDED IN 1965 BY 15 PEOPLE FROM MILAM

COUNTY WHO WANTED TO DO SOMETHING FOR YOUNG

CHILDREN IN THE MILAM COUNTY AREA WITH SPECIAL

NEEDS. THESE FAMILIES GOT TOGETHER AND FOUNDED

THE MARC CENTER IN MILAM COUNTY. ANN KING IS ONE

OF THE LEAD VOLUNTEERS FOR THE MARC CENTER. SHE

SPOKE ABOUT THE MARC CENTER AND ITS ACTIVITIES

ON THE COUNTY JUDGE’S SHOW EARLIER THIS WEEK.

(GRANGER)–THE CITY OF GRANGER HAS ANNOUNCED

THERE WILL BE A WATER OUTAGE TODAY ON THE WEST

SIDE OF HIGHWAY 95 IN THE CITY FROM 9 AM TO 5 PM.

TO ENSURE DESTRUCTION OF ALL HARMFUL BACTERIA,

WATER FOR DRINKING, COOKING, ICE MAKING AND ALL

OTHER CONSUMPTION SHOULD BE BOILED AND COOLED

PRIOR TO CONSUMPTION.

STEP DOWN OFF THE ADAMS AVENUE OVERPASS THURSDAY

MORNING AFTER HE THREATENED TO JUMP.

(ROCKDALE)–ROCKDALE FIREMEN RESPONDED TO

ASSIST WITH TRAFFIC CONTROL WHEN AN 18 WHEELER

STALLED AT MAIN AND CAMERON IN DOWNTOWN ROCKDALE

AROUND 4 O’CLOCK THURSDAY AFTERNOON. THE TRUCK

WAS CLEARED FROM THE SCENE AROUND 5:45 THURSDAY
