(CAMERON)–HUMAN REMAINS WERE DISCOVERED

IN AN ABANDONED HOUSE EARLIER THIS MONTH. THE

REMAINS HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED TO BE HUMAN, AND

THE MILAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS INVESTIGATING.

DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO 1994 HIGHWAY 77 NEAR CAMERON

ON TUESDAY JAN 11TH AND LOCATED THE REPORTED

REMAINS. SCIENTISTS WITH THE TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY

ANTHROPOLOGY CENTER IN SAN MARCOS CONFIRMED

THAT THE REMAINS ARE HUMAN, AND ALSO DETERMINED

THAT THE REMAINS SHOWED NO SIGNS OF TRAUMA.

FORENSIC EXAMINATIONS WILL BE PERFORMED AND

ATTEMPTS TO OBTAIN D-N-A WILL BE MADE. ANYOONE

WHO HAS INFORMATION THAT COULD LEAD TO

THE IDENTITY OF THE REMAINS, PLEASE CONTACT

SHERIFF’S LT. BILL BEHLER AT THE MILAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S

(CAMERON)–MILAM COUNTY HAS 94 NEW CASES OF

COVID-19 TO REPORT TODAY WITH 67 CASES DISCHARGED,

LEAVING 365 ACTIVE CASES OF COVID-19, ANOTHER NEW

RECORD NUMBER OF CASES, THE 4TH RECORD SET THIS

MONTH. FOUR INDIVIDUALS ARE HOSPITALIZED IN SERIOUS

CONDITION, WITH A TOTAL OF 13 CURRENTLY HOSPITALIZED.

THE WEST WARD COUNCIL MEMBER SEAT. IN THE ROCKDALE

SCHOOL BOARD, ROCKDALE I-S-D ALUMNI BRADEN BYRD

AND LINDSEY LILLAND HAVE FILED FOR PLACE 5 ON THE

BOARD, CURRENTLY HELD BY WENDA DYER. IN THORNDALE

CITY COUNCIL, INCUMBENT COUNCIL MEMBER STEVEN

ZUEHLKE HAS FILED FOR RE-ELECTION.

(BASTROP COUNTY)–DOZENS OF FIREFIGHTERS

CONTINUE TO BATTLE WINDY CONDITIONS AS THEY TRY

TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE ROLLINE PINES FIRE IN

BASTROP COUNTY. THE TEXAS A & M FORESTRY SERVICE

SAID THE FIRE HAS GROWN TO 812 ACRES BUT IT IS

70 PERCENT CONTAINED. FIREMEN ARE KEEPING THE FIRE

INSIDE THE PERIMETER UNTIL IT BURNS ITSELF OUT.
