(UNDATED)–A CAMERON WOMAN WAS SENTENCED TO

10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR THE 3RD DEGREE FELONY CHARGE

OF CONTINUOUS VIOLENCE AGAINST FAMILY. 32 YEAR OLD

TONI MARIE MARTIN WAS SENTENCED ON JAN. 26TH

AFTER A PRE-SENTENCE INVESTIGATION AND SENTENCING

HEARING. AUTHORITIES SAY THE CASE BEGAN WHEN ONE

OF THE CHILDREN WAS FOUND IN THE NEXT DOOR

NEIGHBOR’S HOME, SO HUNGRY SHE WAS EATING CAT

FOOD. AN INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE CHILDREN WERE

ROUTINELY UNDERFED, AND PHYSICALLY AND

PSYCHOLOGICALLY ABUSED. THE STATE REMOVED THE

CHILDREN AND THEY ARE NOW IN A SAFE, STABLE HOME.

(TEMPLE)–A WOMAN WAS KILLED EARLY SATURDAY

MORNING IN A 2 VEHICLE CRASH IN NORTH TEMPLE.

THE CRASH OCCURRED AROUND 5:15 PM IN THE 3100 BLOCK

OF NORTH 3RD STREET. THE NAME OF THE VICTIM WAS

NOT RELEASED PENDING NOTIFICATION OF NEXT OF

KIN.

(LEXINGTON)–ONE PERSON WAS INJURED IN A

ONE CAR WRECK IN LEE COUNTY ON COUNTY ROAD 127

NEAR PRIVATE ROAD 174 SATURDAY EVENING. LEE

COUNTY E-M-S RESPONDED TO THE CRASH JUST

AFTER 6:30 PM.

(HUTTO)–ONE PERSON IS DEAD AND ANOTHER IS

WOUNDED AFTER A SHOOTING IN HUTTO, ACCORDING TO

A STATEMENT FROM THE CITY. HUTTO POLICE

RESPONDED TO A REPORT OF SHOTS FIRED ON CASSANDRA

DRIVE JUST BEFORE 3 PM ON TUESDAY JAN 31ST. ONE

PERSON DIED AT THE HOSPITAL AND THE OTHER IS

BEING TREATED FOR SERIOUS INJURIES. HUTTO POLICE

SAY THE CASE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION, AND THERE

IS NO ADDITIONAL THREAT POSTED TO THE COMMUNITY.

(HOLLAND)–THE WORK TO RESTORE POWER TO

CENTRAL TEXAS AFTER THIS WEEK’S STORMS HAS

PROVEN COSTLY. A LINEMAN WORKING IN THE AREA

OF LANDFILL ROAD AND CENTER LAKE ROAD IN THE

CITY OF HOLLAND WAS ELECTROCUTED. HOLLAND

VOLUNTEER FIREMEN AND TEMPLE E-M-S RESPONDED

TO THE SCENE. HE WAS FLOWN TO THE HOSPITAL

BY HELICOPTER FOR TREATMENT.

(ROCKDALE)–MILAM COUNTY FIREMEN WERE

KEPT BUSY WITH SEVERAL CALLS REGARDING POWER

LINES AS WORKMEN CONTINUE TO RESTORE POWER

TO THE COUNTY. POWER LINE PROBLEMS WERE

REPORTED IN ROCKDALE, THORNDALE AND MILANO,

WITH SOME REPORTS OF TREES CATCHING ON FIRE

DUE TO POWER LINES.

(CAMERON)–THE MILAM COUNTY OPERATIONS

CENTER WAS INITIATED IN RESPONSE TO THE WINTER

STORM AND THE RESULTING IMPACT ON INFRASTRUCTURE,

INCLUDING POWER, IN ORDER TO COORDINATE RESOURCES.

THE MOVE ALLOWED THE COUNTY TO COORDINATE WITH

THE STATE IN RESPONDING AND GETTING ACCESS TO

NEEDED RESOURCES. THE OPERATIONS CENTER STOOD

DOWN AT 6 PM ON FRIDAY AND RETURNED RESOURCE

COORDINATION TO LOCAL JURISDICTIONS.

(ROCKDALE)–THE CITY OF ROCKDALE WAS HEAVILY

IMPACTED BY THE WINTER STORM. CITY RESOURCES

WERE STRETCHED THIN BY THE STORM AND SUBSEQUENT

DAMAGE. THE CITY WAS ASSISTED BY THE COUNTY AND

STATE IN RESPONDING. MILAM COUNTY JUDGE BILL

WHITMIRE AND ROCKDALE MAYOR BRETT BOREN

ISSUED DISASTER DECLARATION IN ORDER TO GAIN

ACCESS TO STATE AND FEDERAL FUNDS TO ASSIST IN

RECOVERY EFFORTS.

(ROCKDALE)–BOIL WATER NOTICES HAVE BEEN

INITIATED IN STORM RECOVERY. THE CITY OF ROCKDALE

IS UNDER A BOIL WATER NOTICE. THE CITY OF CAMERON’S

BOIL WATER NOTICE HAS BEEN LIFTED. THE MINERVA

WATER SUPPLY CORPORATION IS UNDER A BOIL WATER

NOTICE.

(ROCKDALE)–THE CITY OF ROCKDALE HAS

ANNOUNCED THAT THE CITY HAS BEGUN HAULING FALLEN

TREES THAT WERE REMOVED FROM CITY STREETS TO A

BURN PILE AT 290 BEVERLY DRIVE. INDIVIDUALS WHO

WOULD LIKE TO HAUL OFF TREE LIMBS AND BRUSH FROM

THEIR PROPERTY MAY ALSO TAKE THAT TO 290 BEVERLY

DRIVE.
