(TRAVIS COUNTY)–A WILLIAMSON COUNTY

RESIDENT FILED A FEDERAL LAWSUIT IN FEDERAL

COURT IN AUSTIN ASSERTING CLAIMS

FOR VIOLATION OF HIS CONSTITUTIONAL

RIGHTS REGARDING AN ALLEGED POLICE BRUTALITY

INCIDENT AFTER HE CLAIMED THAT HE WAS PUNCHED

AND TASED BY A HUTTO POLICE OFFICER. JEREMY ROGERS WAS

TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT, THEN TAKEN

TO JAIL, BUT THE CHARGES WERE EVENTUALLY DROPPED.

THE OFFICER CLAIMED ROGERS ASSAULTED HIM, RESISTED

ARREST AND WAS PUBLICLY INTOXICATED. THE CITY OF

HUTTO SAID THE CITY HAD NOT RECEIVED NOTICE OF A

LAWSUIT AS OF EARLIER THIS WEEK, BUT THE MATTER IS

SUBJECT OF AN INVESTIGATION, AND THE OFFICER INVOLVED

IS ON ADMINISTRATIVE DUTY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

(MARLIN)–POLICE REPORTS APPEAR TO CONTRADICT

CLAIMS MADE BY A MARLIN CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE OVER

A CONVICTION FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD. CHRIS

SPAIN IS RUNNING FOR A SEAT ON THE MARLIN CITY

COUNCIL. SPAIN WAS CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT OF

A CHILD IN 2007. THIS WEEK, SPAIN DEFENDED HIMSELF

BY CLAIMING HE DID NOT KNOW THE VICTIM’S REAL AGE,

THAT HE MET HER AT A BAR, AND THAT SHE USED A FAKE

I-D TO GET IN. ACCORDING TO POLICE REPORTS, SPAIN’S

FORMER ROOMMATE TOLD HIM TO LIE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT

IF HE WAS EVER ASKED ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP. SPAIN

IS NOT A CONVICTED FELON, AND AS A RESULT, IS ABLE TO

RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL.

(GRANGER)–THE CITY OF GRANGER HAS LIFTED THE

BOIL WATER NOTICE PUT IN PLACE FEB. 19TH FOR CITY OF

GRANGER WATER CUSTOMERS. WATER SERVICE WAS

RESTORED AND ALL TESTS CAME BACK CLEAR, SO THE

BOIL WATER NOTICE WAS LIFTED.

(UNDATED)–THE TEXAS OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY IS

BOOMING. ACCORDING TO THE ANNUAL REPORT FROM

THE TEXAS OIL AND GAS ASSOCIATION, EMPLOYMENT IS

UP IN THE OIL PATCH TO 248 THOUSAND. MILAM COUNTY

JUDGE STEVE YOUNG TOLD MILAM COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

IN A RECENT MEETING THAT TREADSTONE ENERGY PARTNERS

HAS DRILLED 50 NEW WELLS IN THE GAUSE AREA, AND IS

INTERESTED IN MORE, IF THE WELLS ARE SUCCESSFUL.

OFFICER OF THE YEAR BANQUET IS COMING UP SATURDAY

BULLDOG BASKETBALL TEAM FACES SAN ANTONIO STACEY

IN THE AREA ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS AT LOCKHART

TONIGHT. KRXT WILL HAVE ALL THE ACTION LIVE.

(TAYLOR)–REPORTS EMERGED THIS WEEK THAT

TAYLOR I-S-D WOULD NOT BRING BACK HEAD FOOTBALL

COACH AND ATHLETIC DIRECTOR RUSTY PURSER IN THOSE

ROLES NEXT YEAR. PURSER CONFIRMED THE STORY IN AN

INTERVIEW WITH KRXT. HE EXPRESSED HIS THANKS TO

THE FANS AND COMMUNITY FOR THEIR SUPPORT, AND

APPRECIATION TO THE ATHLETES HE’S HAD A CHANCE TO

WORK WITH DURING HIS TENURE AT TAYLOR. THE DUCKS

HAD A 32 AND 48 RECORD OVERALL UNDER PURSER, BUT

WERE IN THE PLAYOFFS EACH OF HIS 7 YEARS AS HEAD

COACH.
