Free genealogy lock-in seminar in Rockdale on Friday, October 20th. Milam County Genealogical Society is teaming with Lucy Patterson Library, 201 Ackerman, Rockdale, for the second year to present a genealogy lock-in through a live feed with the Waco-McLennan County Library Genealogy Center. The free program will begin at 11am Friday, October 20th in the genealogy section of Patterson library, and will continue until 5pm. Subjects to be covered are: Researching Orphan Train riders from 1854 to 1929; Beginner’s guide to documenting your family history; Discovering local history through a regional depository; My Texans during the Republic; and Connecting your DNA matches. Veterans who need legal advice or legal assistance can visit a free legal clinic scheduled in Temple on Friday, October 20th, from 1-4pm. at the Olin E. Teague VA Medical Center in Temple. No appointment is necessary. Any veteran, or spouse of a deceased veteran, can receive guidance and consultation at the clinic from a volunteer attorney. The Relay for Life Milam County will have their Survivors Dinner on Sunday, October 29th at the Fellowship Hall of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.
