Milano High School and Junior High students can pick up their schedules on meet the teacher night on Thursday,  August 16th at 6 pm.

The Milam County Retired School Personnel are sponsoring Movie Night at the Kay in Rockdale on Saturday, August 18th. Join them for William Wyler’s Roman Holiday, starring Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. The film starts at 7 pm and tickets are $5 each. Call 512-455-9591 for more information.

St. Monica Catholic Church in Cameron invites you to their Homecoming Festival on Sunday, August 19th. There will be Spanish Mass at 7 am and Polka Mass at 10 am with the Taylor Czech Chorus. Beef and Sausage Plates will be sold starting at 10:30 am until sold out for 10 each. You can dine in or get it to go. Hamburgers, Tamales and BBQ on a Bun will also be available. There will be game booths open at 12 pm and a Horseshoe Tournament at 1 pm. The cost is 20 dollars per team and registration will be from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. There will be Bingo outside from 12 pm- 4 pm and a Live Auction in the Hall at 3:30 pm. This year’s Live Entertainment is The Majek’s Of Corpus Christi, TX.

The American Legion Post #358 in Rockdale will host a Turkey Shoot on Sunday, August 19th. The shooting starts at 11 am, with 12 shooters per round. Ammunition is provided. The Falls County Go Texan BBQ Cook Off and Trail Ride will be Friday, August 24th and Saturday, 25th at Westphalia Celebration Park. There will be a bounce house, trail ride, 5K run, kids pork chop cook off, homemade ice cream contest, live music, and games. The Thrall Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their 5th annual street dance on Saturday, September 8th, on Main St. in Thrall from 7 pm-Midnight. Special performances by Kenny Orts and the No Chance Band. Food catered by Thrall Country Diner for $10, with kids under 12 free. No coolers allowed and beer will be available. All proceeds benefit the Thrall V-F-D.

The Burleson County Aggie Moms Club will be having a Kolache Krunch 5K run/walk, on Saturday, September 8th, at the Kolache Festival in Caldwell. Sign up race day registration is $40. After the 5k, you’re invited to the hospitality tent for free beer, kolaches, beverages, music, and the race awards.

The annual SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church picnic in Marak will be Sunday, September 9th at the church. Mass is at 10:15 am, with dinner at 11 am. Plates of their famous home fried chicken and homemade sausage with all the trimmings will be $10 each. Plates are dine in or to go and until it`s all gone. Games kick off at Noon and the Praha Brothers will play from 12:30 pm-3:30 pm. An auction follows the music. Enjoy games, refreshments, and fun for the whole family. A horseshoe tourney begins at 1 pm. Sign up is $20 per team.

The Milam Regional Farmers Market for October will be Saturday, October 13th as a part of the Steaktober Fest on the Square in Cameron.

$3 Bag Day is the first Friday of the month at Rockdale Heavenly Treasures in Downtown Rockdale.

Rockdale I-S-D is currently hiring bus drivers. Pay starts at $11.50 an hour. Rockdale I-S-D will pay fees for physical, certification and testing for CDL license. Rockdale PAWS is an Organization that socializes, cares for and finds foster homes or forever homes for animals picked up by Rockdale Animal Control. They are looking to pet lovers for help. They need volunteers to feed and take care of the animals. Donations are welcome to pay for food, shots, spaying and neutering and treatment to get them ready for adoption. Enrollment is now open for Tiger Learning Center. The Brand New Tiger Learning Center is dedicated to the growth and development of all children and is equipped to offer quality instruction in a safe, loving and engaging environment. Pack Pals a 501c (3) non-profit organization currently serving the children of Rockdale and Milano School Districts is looking for donations. This program provides weekend supply of nutritious food for children when school lunch of breakfast is unavailable on a weekday, weekend or school holiday. Pack Pals is in need of individual serving sizes of foods and monetary donations. If you would like to donate, you can drop of food at Rockdale Signs & Photography. Rockdale iTigers offers iFit twice a week: Mondays at 6:30 pm and Wednesdays at 7 pm at the Rockdale High School weight room. This is also open to the public and it is free.

Rockdale I-S-D Gold Cards are available for complimentary general admission to school events, sports, etc., for persons who are 60 years of age or older and live within the Rockdale Independent School District. The Milam County Tax Office Rockdale Substation is open Monday-Friday from 8 am-4 pm. The office is closed at 12 noon for lunch.

Rockdale High School and Junior High School Students have an opportunity to learn the skills to build an Airplane.  Students will be able to work on constructing a plane.  Rockdale Tiger Flight meets each Saturday at 10 am at H.H. The Milano Jamboree will be held on the last Saturday of each month at 7 pm in the Milano Civic Center in Milano. Everyone is invited to come enjoy some great country and gospel music.  Admission is free and refreshments will be available.

The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department is accepting applications for membership in the department. No prior fire service qualifications are needed. Applicants must be 18 years of age, no criminal history, have a drivers license, a vehicle to respond with, live within a few miles of Cameron, and most of all be able to respond to fires and attend meetings and drills each Monday. AMAZING GRACE THRIFT SHOP on Highway 36 at the caution light in Buckholts is a non-profit organization that has clothes and shoes priced at 50 cents. They also have household items, books, baby items, etc. The group relies on donations to make this a ministry of God’s grace and will use the money for scholarships, school functions, and other community projects that God puts in their hearts.
