The Cameron Public Library will host a Christmas Open House from 5pm-7pm on Monday, December 11th. Come enjoy holiday music, snacks, and drinks, provided by the Library Ladies and Friends. Children will also be able to make special crafts during the event.
The next meeting of the ALCOA Retirees – Rockdale will be Thursday, December 14th. This will be our Christmas meeting. Set up is a little earlier. Set up starts at 3pm. Volunteers are needed. Doors open at 5pm. A short business meeting begins at 5:45pm. Meal at 6pm.The meeting will be held at the Lake Training Center. No gift exchange. Retirees are asked to bring canned goods.
Thorndale Cares Application Forms can be picked up at the Thorndale City Hall and from Betty Cuba at the Thorndale Elementary School Office. Deadline for turning in applications is December 15th. You must submit a new application every year. Food will be boxed for distribution at the old Thorndale School Gym on December 19. Delivery will be from 8am until 10am on December 20th. Monetary Donations can be made at Thorndale Prosperity Bank, receipts are available upon request. Food and Toy donations can be dropped off at the Thorndale City Hall. Volunteers are needed on December 20 from 8 am to 10 am to help deliver meals, meet at the Old School Gym.
Look Good, Feel Better is a free Baylor Scott & White workshop for women with cancer to help you look and feel more comfortable with changes in your appearance. It is led by licensed cosmetologists who teach in a group setting that provides an environment of support, confidence, courage and community. The workshop is from 1:30pm to 3:30pm on the following third Monday December 18th. The African Children’s Choir will perform at 9am on Sunday, December 24th at Liberty Community Church in Cameron. Admission is free and donations are being accepted. Are you interested in exciting and fun opportunities in law enforcement? The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for young adults ages 14 – 20 to join the Sheriff’s Explorer program. This program acquaints young adults with the field of law enforcement as a future career choice along with life skills, citizenship, character education and leadership experience. The annual central Texas cow-calf clinic will be held January 5th at the Milam County Youth Expo Building in Cameron. This program is provided by Texas A&M Argri-life Extension in Milam, Robertson, Bell, Burleson, Williamson and Falls Counties. Registration is from 7:30am-8:30am with the Presentations starting at 8:30am and concluding at 3pm. 3 CEUs will be given for Pesticide applicators license holders. The cost of the Program is $20 payable at the door. You are asked to RSVP to the Milam County Extension Office for a meal county by January 3rd. The educational program will help producers solve issues facing cattle producers, including the market outlook, forage production and protection, parasite control and technologies, weather forecasting, and Vet demonstrations.

Rockdale PAWS is an Organization that socializes, cares for and finds foster homes or forever homes for animals picked up by Rockdale Animal Control. They are looking to pet lovers for help. Pack Pals a 501c (3) non-profit organization currently serving the children of Rockdale and Milano School Districts is looking for donations. This program provides weekend supply of nutritious food for children when school lunch of breakfast is unavailable on a weekday, weekend or school holiday. Rockdale ISD Gold Cards are available for complimentary general admission to school events, sports, etc., for persons who are 60 years of age or older and live within the Rockdale Independent School District. The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department is accepting applications for membership in the department. No prior fire service qualifications are needed. Applicants must be 18 years of age, no criminal history, have a drivers license, a vehicle to respond with, live within a few miles of Cameron, and most of all be able to respond to fires and attend meetings and drills each Monday.
