Calling all interested growers and vendors to an organizational meeting for a Milam County regional farmers market. The meeting will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 1pm in Founders Hall at The Yards of Cameron. Milam and surrounding areas have many growers from organic produce to lamb and of course beef. The Milano Volunteer Fire Department will hold their Chili Supper Fundraiser on Saturday, February 18th from 4:30pm until sold out at the Fire Station. The Bartlett United Methodist Church will hold their Pancake Supper on Monday, February 20th from 5pm-7:30pm at the Church. It is all you can eat Pancakes and Bacon with take-out orders available. The Cameron Chamber of Commerce will hold their 83rd Annual Chamber Banquet on Monday, February 27th at the Williams Event Center in Cameron. The Chamber is seeking community input on candidates for several of the annual awards presented at the Banquet, including: Volunteer of the Year; Organization of the Year; Citizen of the Year; and Business of the Year. The Battle for a Cure Foundation is of Round Rock will hold a Four Man Scramble Charity Golf Tournament on Wednesday, March 29th at The Golf Club Star Ranch in Hutto. The Relay For Life of Milam County is asking the local county government, businesses, and schools as well as individuals to wear purple for the cure on Friday, April 7th.  The Relay For Life of Milam County committee members are taking pre sale orders for T-shirts for this day. The 2017 Cameron Fun Fest and Cameron Police Department BBQ Shootout will be held May 5th and 6th at Ledbetter Park. BBQ cook off contestants have a chance to win over $5000 in cash and prizes. Other events scheduled include a concert, 5K run, carnival, arts & crafts, car show, kid fish, and horseshoe & washer tourneys. In addition, Saturday night is a Party in the Park!

Pack Pals a 501c (3) non-profit organization currently serving the children of Rockdale and Milano School Districts is looking for donations. This program provides weekend supply of nutritious food for children when school lunch of breakfast is unavailable on a weekday, weekend or school holiday. Rockdale ISD Gold Cards are available for complimentary general admission to school events, sports, etc., for persons who are 60 years of age or older and live within the Rockdale Independent School District. The cards do not have an expiration date and are available in the RISD Central Administration Building, 520 West Davilla during regular office hours.

The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department is accepting applications for membership in the department. No prior fire service qualifications are needed. Applicants must be 18 years of age, no criminal history, have a drivers license, a vehicle to respond with, live within a few miles of Cameron, and most of all be able to respond to fires and attend meetings and drills each Monday.
