The Rockdale Knights of Columbus is holding their annual Lent Fish Fry from 5pm until 7:30pm every Friday during March.

St. Luke Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus #7191 will hold their Fish Fry from 4:30pm-7pm every Friday during Lent. Dates: March 17th, 24th, and 31st and April 7th.  Plates are 9 dollars each and children 10 and under eat free. Carry out plates will be available.

The annual station review and fundraiser for Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department will be Saturday, March 25th from 10am-2pm at Station #2 in Davilla. There will be sausage wraps, chips, and drinks for sale. In addition, there will be a bounce house and cotton candy for the kids. Everyone is invited. For information, call 254-627-0058.

Salem Lutheran Church and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans combine their resources to host a BBQ fundraiser and silent auction from 11am-2pm Sunday, March 26th at Seaton Star Hall. Plates off BBQ beef, sausage, beans, potato salad, slaw, dessert, and tea are just $10. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life.

The Battle for a Cure Foundation of Round Rock will hold a Four Man Scramble Charity Golf Tournament on Wednesday, March 29th at The Golf Club Star Ranch in Hutto. The 9th annual Cameron Car Club Classic Car Show will be  Saturday, April 1st from 9am-2pm on the Milam County Courthouse square in Cameron. There will be food vendors, door prizes, drawings, a silent auction, goody bags, and trophies. For information, call 254-627-9060.

There will be a Rummage Sale at the Cameron VFW Post 2010 on Saturday, April 1st from 8am to 12pm. Donations are accepted. Items can be dropped off at the Cameron VFW Post Tuesday through Saturday from 5pm to 8pm. All proceeds will benefit the Auxiliary to VFW Post 2010, and all donated items remaining after the sale will be donated to local thrift stores.

The Relay For Life of Milam County is asking the local county government, businesses, and schools as well as individuals to wear purple for the cure on Friday, April 7th.  The Relay For Life of Milam County committee members are taking pre sale orders for T-shirts for this day. The 3rd Annual Country Gospel Jamboree Sponsored by the Second Chance Band, The Music Ministry of Tommy and Cindy Hart and the Cowboy Church of Lee County will be 7pm Sunday, April 2nd at the Giddings High School Auditorium. Music by The Second Chance Band; Paul and Tara Schlesinger, Bill Tucker, Billy Barnett and Chip Dunsmore. Tommy & Cindy Hart, Dennis Schroeder, Lynn Martin, Kimberlyn & Curtis Krause, Paul Staggs & Robert Welch of the award winning, world famous gospel duo Branded. There will be a benefit for Angela Gail Danek at 11am on Sunday, April 30th, at Moravian Hall in Georgetown. BBQ plates will be available from 11am-1:30pm for $10 per plate. To-go and dine-in will be available. Desserts are $1 extra. A silent auction and live auction will be held. T-shirts will also be sold. The benefit is also accepting auction items and baked goods. The 2017 Cameron Fun Fest and Cameron Police Department BBQ Shootout will be held May 5th and 6th at Ledbetter Park. BBQ cook off contestants have a chance to win over $5000 in cash and prizes. Other events scheduled include a concert, 5K run, carnival, arts & crafts, car show, kid fish, and horseshoe & washer tourneys. In addition, Saturday night is a Party in the Park!

Grace Church, located at 808 W 16th Street in Cameron, would like to invite everyone to their Annual Family Fun Festival on Saturday. October 7th from 9am-5pm. There will be an Arts & Crafts Festival, Activities for the kids, live music, an Auction, Raffle, Crafts, Specialty Items, & Food Booths! If you are interested in renting a 15×15 space (rental fee is only $25) for your crafts, food or specialty item.

The Rockdale Senior Center is in need of Volunteers for Meals on Wheels. The Center needs help for deliveries on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you would like to volunteer, you can call Carolyn at 512-446-2666.

Pack Pals a 501c (3) non-profit organization currently serving the children of Rockdale and Milano School Districts is looking for donations. This program provides weekend supply of nutritious food for children when school lunch of breakfast is unavailable on a weekday, weekend or school holiday. Pack Pals is in need of individual serving sizes of foods and monetary donations. If you would like to donate, you can drop of food at Rockdale Signs & Photography. Rockdale iTigers offers iFit twice a week: Mondays at 6:30pm and Wednesdays at 7pm at the RHS weight room. This is also open to the public and it is free.

Rockdale ISD Gold Cards are available for complimentary general admission to school events, sports, etc., for persons who are 60 years of age or older and live within the Rockdale Independent School District. The cards do not have an expiration date and are available in the RISD Central Administration Building, 520 West Davilla during regular office hours.

The Milam County Tax Office Rockdale Substation is open Monday-Friday from 8 am-4pm. The office is closed at 12noon for lunch.

Rockdale High School and Junior High School Students have an opportunity to learn the skills to build an Airplane.  Students will be able to work on constructing a plane.  Rockdale Tiger Flight meets each Saturday at 10 am at H.H. Coffield Regional Airport on FM 908 South.

The Coat of Many Colors Thrift Store at 121 East 2nd in Taylor is open Monday-Friday 9am-2pm. Sheppard’s Heart and Community Ministries also located at 121 East 2nd is open Tuesday and Thursday 1pm-3pm and on Saturday from 9am-10am. For more information, you can call 512-352-5553.

Every Thursday and 3rd Saturday of the month, Jimmie Maze and the Milano Playboys perform at the Chriesman Community Center in Chriesman, Texas from 7 p.m.-9p.m.

Karaoke the 1st and 3rd Friday every month at the Cameron VFW Post 2010 in Cameron.

The Milano Jamboree will be held on the last Saturday of each month at 7 pm in the Milano Civic Center in Milano. Everyone is invited to come enjoy some great country and gospel music.  Admission is free and refreshments will be available.

The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department is accepting applications for membership in the department. No prior fire service qualifications are needed. Applicants must be 18 years of age, no criminal history, have a drivers license, a vehicle to respond with, live within a few miles of Cameron, and most of all be able to respond to fires and attend meetings and drills each Monday. Standards of Care will be at Bea’s Kitchen, at 101 East Main Street, at 10:30 am on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month for free blood sugar and blood pressure checks.
